I say that science fiction is only fiction until we develop sufficient technology to create science reality.

Consider Star Trek.  A computer that held the knowledge of the universe, with the ability to correlate?  A Cray can do that.  Heck, your high-end server can do that.

McCoy placed a device in the ships computers to store medical data.  Looks like the precursor to a floppy.

What about Demolition Man?  “Lojacking criminals?”  That’s an RFID chip.

So, some day, science fiction will be no longer.  Until that day, let us dream of the future we want to live in.
